On October 21, 2011 the successful first launch of Soyuz ST-B launch vehicle with the European Galileo satellite from Guiana Space Center was made. Further on it is planned to make 3-4 launches annually in order to create a European group of navigation satellites of global view system. Besides the European satellites from the Guiana Space Center there will start space vehicles with Russian satellites.
Launching from the Guiana space center allows to increase the deduced working load twice in comparison to Baikonur or Plesetsk. In this regard there is a possibility to use much heavier space head part, weighed up to 22 tons, for “Soyuz” launch vehicle, but the assembly of the vehicle in the horizontal situation and lifting in the assembled form are impossible due to design features.
For vertical assembly of the launch vehicle (LV) and head part (HP) for space launch complex in Guiana, a Mobile Gantry (MG) was used where the assembly of LV and HP was fulfilled as well as all the assembly, refueling, and monitoring operations. The Mobile Gantry has the possibility of high-safety rescue of personnel in case of emergency situations.
Pax Company Ltd. has won the competition for design and manufacture of Mobile Gantry in 2005. Under the leadership of the Pax Company Ltd. the Mobile Gantry was installed and successfully tested in Guiana Space Center in 2010-2011.
By request of "Progress" Federal State Unitary Enterprise, Pax Company designed and controlled the manufacture of 28 containers for transportation od "Soyuz" vehicles to GSC, and designed and manufactured a set of Pivoting Cable Frames for "Soyuz" launch vehicle also.
